Father's Day: What Greensburg has to Offer

It seems that when Father’s Day rolls around, people struggle with what to get the dads in their lives without being repetitive of years past. Of course, you can go with the traditional ties, grills, sporting equipment and tools. But it can be tough to get creative when the same types of gifts seem to appear over and over on the internet, commercials and newspapers.

A memorable way to give your dad a great Father’s Day may not have to come in a box. Here are some ideas to make the day special for both of you:

Golfing is a cherished sport among many a father.  Mt. Odin is a public golf course in Greensburg that has lush emerald valleys surrounded by tall trees that offer shade from harsh summer sun. In the distance lay the Laurel Ridge. The scenery alone makes for a great game, no matter what the score. The green fee on the weekend is $21 for 18 holes or $14 for 9 holes. For more information, call their pro sport shop at: 724-834-2640.

Sometimes just spending a day working on the lawn or house is just what dad is looking for. Visit Bortz Hardware at 119 South Pennsylvania Avenue; or Ace Hardware at 239 East Pittsburgh Street. Both stores have the tools and accessories for household repair jobs.

If it’s delicious food and drinks that would make the day special, head down to the Headkeeper Tapas Bar after 3 p.m. They have fantastic tasting tapas as well as 600 bottles of domestic, imported and micro crafted beer. Mr. Bones, a local bistro and brewery located on 6040 North Main Street, specializes in different types of beer as well, making it a great place to take dad on Father’s Day. The All Saints Brewery, located on route 119 in Greensburg, also offers a favorite stop.  After an hour in the tasting room, purchase dad a growler of Crimson Halo or a seasonal beer.

For the more traditional shopper, the stores in Greensburg may have just the ticket to a great Father’s Day present!

When it comes to Father’s Day in Greensburg, it’s almost impossible to not mention Lapel’s: A Fine Men’s Clothier. This store has undergone stylistic changes in its merchandising over the years. There is a wide variety of ties to choose from, polo’s available in many colors, shoes, cologne and much more. Lapel’s is located on 106 South Pennsylvania Ave. For more information on the store, give them a call at: 724-853-7145.

If your dad loves the outdoors, American Adventure Sports is a great place to go to for sporting merchandise. From high-tech backpacks to self-sealing water bottles, American Adventure Sports has it all! From running, camping, hiking and more, there’s always an awesome find that your dad can use in the sport of his choice. A gift from this store is thoughtful and practical!
Father’s Day doesn’t always have to be difficult when it comes to thinking of a present. Giving Dad a great day can make his Father’s Day a special one. Come to Greensburg and make it a day to remember!
